Ouai Haircare | Hair Oil & Repair Conditioner

Ouai Haircare Repair Conditioner £20.00 from Cult Beauty and Hair Oil £24.00 from Cult Beauty

Hey Lovelies

I'm cranking out all my reviews today! (Got so much to catch up on after being a little moody moo for a couple of months).  I have had these two products from Ouai since around early December so I have been able to thoroughly test them out.

Ouai is a luxury haircare brand started by celebrity hair stylist Jen Atkin; she does all of the Kardashians as well as others like Jennifer Lopez and Katy Perry.

Here is what Cult Beauty says about the Hair Oil..

With the most incredible scent – a heady blend of violet, gardenia, white musk and ylang ylang – this featherweight oil is to-die-for. Perfect for smoothing and nourishing dry, distressed lengths, just apply half a pump to damp hair before styling – it seals in hydration and perfumes your headspace. Plus, it looks très fancy in your bathroom cabinet.

From celebrity coiffeuse Jen Atkin – responsible for maintaining the manes of Klan Kardashian, Gigi Hadid and Gwen Stefani (to name a few) – OUAI’s Hair Oil is ultra-lightweight to seal ends, enhance shine and protect from heat-styling without adding weight to fine hair types. Suitable for all lengths and textures, this is enriched with ‘OUAI Smart Technology’ – a cocktail of nourishing ingredients including amino acids, tamarind seed, keratin, ama oil, hibiscus and jasmine to strengthen, enhance moisture levels, repair and protect from humidity – alongside borage oil, baobab and African galanga to prevent colour-fade and protect against photo-damage. Simply smooth through damp lengths, use to sleeken your pony, or apply overnight for an intensive treatment.

This oil is quite multi purpose. I use it in a few different ways. First of all, I use it to get rid of frizz on my dry hair and to soften my bleached ends. I use it as a intensive treatment like it says in Cult Beauty's description and I use it on wet hair before I blow dry or before I use hair straighteners. I also use it to get rid of frizz on my pony tail or when my hair is in a bun.

I'm sat here thinking of ways to describe how I feel about this hair oil and to be honest I just really, REALLY love it; from the scent to how it makes my hair feel when I run my fingers through it. I really think it makes my hair look healthy and shiny and I can honestly say that I have never tried an oil like this before.

But I do have a complaint, the price!  For 45ml you have to pay £24 which makes this very expensive. Do I love the oil? Yes it's fantastic stuff. It does make your hair look healthier and glossier I cant deny that, but the price is a little excessive.

Now on to the conditioner...

Here is what Cult Beauty says about the Repair Conditioner..

Ideal for dry or damaged hair, as well as more porous hair textures (coloured or chemically-treated, as well as thick, curly or over-processed length), OUAI’s strengthening Repair Conditioner hydrates and fortifies to minimise breakage and enhance shine. Completely free from parabens and sulphates, it’s perfect for those with particularly tempestuous tresses.

From celebrity coiffeuse Jen Atkin – responsible for maintaining the manes of Klan Kardashian, Gigi Hadid and Gwen Stefani (to name a few) – OUAI’s range of conditioners all share the same signature scent, OUAI #2; a luxurious blend of Italian lemon, bergamot, rose de mai, magnolia, lily, blackberry, cedar wood, amber, patchouli, sandalwood and white must. With an ultra-thick, indulgent texture, this stars ‘OUAI Smart Technology’ – a cocktail of nourishing ingredients including amino acids, tamarind seed, keratin, ama oil, hibiscus and jasmine to fortify strands, enhance moisture levels, repair and protect from humidity. And the gorgeous bottles make an ultra-chic addition to your bathroom cabinet. Just say ‘Ouai’.

This conditioner is amazing! There, I had to say it! No way of denying it, turned my straw-like hair into silk after only a couple of washes. It smells amazing and is free of parabens and sulphates. My scalp was certainly thankful for that as I didn't have my usual itchy reaction.

Ouai does a few different types of conditioners but I really wanted to try the repair, because I have a lot of damage caused by past bleaching and lots of hot hair styling. A little of this goes a long way and I found I only needed a coin sized amount for my hair which is shoulder length.

I have also mixed a tiny bit of this with other conditioners in order to see if it had the same effect. I mixed half a teaspoon of Ouai with two tablespoons of Aussie Stop The Break 3 Minute Miracle (link here).

I had good results, not as good as the repair conditioner alone but very close!  I found this is a good way to stretch out Ouai.....oh that rhymes!

No matter how I use this conditioner, weather it be mixed with another or alone, I tend to leave it in for half an hour before rinsing, I feel like I am getting the best results by doing it this way.

But as with the oil, the price of this conditioner is very expensive, you get 250ml for £20. I think this is why I have looked at ways of stretching this out.

Overall I really love the products I have tried from Ouai. They have been amazing on my hair and have really made it look healthy and shiny! I cant stop touching it! But the price is a little steep and I don't know many people who would rather buy expensive shampoos, conditioners and oils instead of makeup, but saying that there is a part of me that really wants to buy the oil again once I run out, we will see!

All links for the oil and conditioner are just below the first picture at the top of the post.

Have you tried Ouai?
