La Roche Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel, Serozinc, Effaclar Astringent Lotion, Effaclar Clarifying Toner, Effaclar Duo +

WARNING! LONG POST ALERT!

Dusting of the cobwebs on my laptop and starting to blog again!  I've been in a really weird place mentally and it has taken me a very long time to get some of my confidence back.

I was going to do a post about it all but I don't think its really relevant to what I normally talk about here, if you would like to read a post about whats been going on in the mind of Raych...I'll do it.

If you have followed me on Instagram or on Twitter, you will have seen that for a long time I was an avid Liz Earle skincare lover, at first her Cleanse & Polish, Instant Skin Boost and Superskin moisturiser were my holy grail products, I couldn't stop talking about them or taking pictures...but ironically enough, I only ever properly reviewed the Sheer Skin Tint on here..that must have been a sign!

After happily using Liz Earle's products for two months I started to notice a few little bumps on my chin, I thought nothing of it and carried on with my skincare regime.  After another two weeks the skin on my jawline was covered in small painful lumps, then as the days went on more and more appeared.  I had still not connected the dots and still went on using the products.

Another week or so after that the lumps appeared to turn into full blown spots!!  I sat down and looked at my skin closely in the mirror, it looked like I had tiny little lumps all over my skin, nose and forehead, all my pores appeared to be clogged! So I did what most people do when looking for an answer to anything.... I googled!

With some research I found that there were other people using Liz Earle products that this has happened too, so once I read that I decided to go looking for new skincare bits, I needed something strong enough to shift the spots, but gentle enough not to aggravate the psoriasis on my skin.

I must say the search was over rather quickly as I had a brand already in mind, I had seen loads of people talking about this brand on their instagrams and other blogs, so I decided to buy the La Roche Posay Effaclar 3 Step Anti Blemish System (I am going to put all the links below) which was on offer for £22 when I got it.  The set consists of a face wash, toner and a moisturiser...the picture below was taken when I first got it.

The system is easy, just wash your face with the face wash, use the toner on a cotton pad and then moisturise.  You only need a small amount of each of them.  Twice a day, morning and night and I hoped for the best!  It took I would say 3 or 4 days before I started to notice a difference, the big spots I had were less red and starting to shrink and the parts of my face where my skin is dry didn't get all flaky!

After using this system for 8 weeks (I was starting to run out by this time) my skin was clear!  I still got the occasional "angry" spot that took a week or so to shift but that was it, the system had worked.  I wanted to try out more of their range after having fantastic results, so I bought La Roche Posay Effaclar Astringent Lotion and La Roche Posay Serozinc (pictured above).

Finally we are here! At the actual review of the range, to everyone who has hung in their to get to this part I thank you. I promise to keep this bit short and sweet and I will keep to the point for once.

La Roche Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel
200ml £11 at Feel Unique

I love this face wash, at first I was really worried it would be too drying as after I had used it my hands felt really dry, but its not done that to my face so its all good!  In the set you get 120ml (I think) of this wash which lasted me just on 8 weeks and that's with using it twice a day too.  I have used this with my Clarisonic to have a good exfoliate every now and again.

La Roche Posay Effaclar Clarifying Toner 200ml this is in the 3 step set which is £33 at Feel Unique

I liked this toner, its fresh and made my skin feel clean but not tight or tingly.  This bottle came in the 3 step set and when you look for this bottle on Feel Unique or Boots you cant find a bottle to match it, I think the Astringent Lotion is supposed to be the same as this one, even though they feel nothing alike on my skin. I will be a little gutted once this runs out as I have no intention of buying the 3 step set again as I have most of the products individually.

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo + 40ml £15.50 at Feel Unique

This stuff is AMAZING! Now I have discovered this moisturiser I will never give it up, it shrinks my pores which makes makeup application so much smoother, my fine link wrinkles look reduced and my skin feels hydrated!  This moisturiser has been reviewed to death but it is worth every word.  The way I use it is a small amount all over my face and jawline every morning and evening, it helps keep my face matte without it feeling drying.  I do add a small amount of anti ageing cream to this, but I only put that on my forehead, eyes and above my lips.  My only real complaint about this stuff is the small bottle. I am going through a bottle a month on average, so please La Roche Posay...bring out a full size bottle!

La Roche Posay Serozinc 150ml £8.50 at Feel Unique

I bought this spray when I was looking for the full sizes of all the Effaclar stuff, I was intrigued after giving it a quick read so I thought.."Why not?" I wasn't sure how I was supposed to use this at first...a toner?...setting spray???.

Initially I used this after my toner, I would spray a little on my face then let it soak in for a few mins.  It's fine to be used that way I think...but I love using it whenever my face feels a bit oily or to give it a bit of a freshen up, or sometimes I like to have a quick spray on my more spotty prone areas throughout the day.

Out of everything though, I love using this before putting on makeup the most, this is a brilliant "primer". I put this on and leave it for a few mins, I take the excess off with a dry flannel, then apply my makeup.  I have noticed that my makeup stays matte during the day after I have used this, really it is fantastic stuff.

La Roche Posay Effaclar Astringent Lotion 200ml £12 from Feel Unique

This was an accidental buy for me really, I assumed it was the same as the Clarifying Lotion that came with the 3 step set, and a few people say it is..but I don't think so, at least not on my skin anyway, it has a alcohol feel to it, feels like my skin is really really clean when I use it which is brilliant.  I was concerned that it would dry my face out but so far its not done that at all.

That's it folks! That's all of the La Roche Posay Effaclar and Serozinc bits and bobs reviewed, I have tried my best to keep the reviews themselves short and sweet.  The only reason I decided to go into so much depth about my prior skincare routine is I wanted to tell you all what using the Liz Earle stuff did to my skin and to explain to people who follow me on instagram why I stopped using it.

A few points I just wanted to add before I finish this, you can find the La Roche Posay stuff on offer somewhere at any time of the month, Feel Unique's offer has just finished but will probably be back soon, their offers usually range from one third to 25% off, Boots are also good for the offers too so its worth checking on them from time to time.

I also wanted to tell you about the anti ageing cream I am using on top of the Effaclar Duo +, its from Vichy and is called Liftactiv Supreme.  I had paid £19.90 for it when it was on offer, at the time of writing this it has gone back up to £29.95, you can look at it here.

I really do apologise for the very very long post, thank you to everyone who has read it.  If your using La Roche Posay I would love to hear what you think and any tips and tricks you have, please comment below.

Thanks for reading
